About WunghnuWunghnu, The name Wunghnu means boomerang and was used by the natives twice a year, in spring for the bird life and game and in autumn for fishing on the tongue of land east of the railway line which was later occupied by Mr. T. Clarkson, at the point the creek was a well defined boomerang shaped bend. Early settlers arrived in the area of Wunghnu and its surrounds around 1870, of which a number of these original names still remain in our district. |
